Invites applications for the position of Chief of Police

The Kennebecasis Regional Police Force (formally the Rothesay Regional Police Force) provides policing services for the approximately 30,000 residents of the towns of Quispamsis and Rothesay, New Brunswick.  The force’s jurisdiction is the 4th largest in the province and currently consists of 38 sworn officers and five civilian employees. The current Chief of Police will retire in early 2018 and a replacement Chief will be selected internally or externally from qualified applicants.

Duties of the Chief of Police may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the sworn officers and civilian staff of the KRPF
  • Oversee, guide and monitor all aspects of the KRPF Strategic Plan 2014 – 2019
  • Review the design and structure of the KRPF and implement change where efficiencies can be realized
  • Plan and provide for police training programs as required to maintain the high standards of the KRPF
  • As may be required, work with employees to correct deficiencies, implement discipline up to and, if necessary termination processes
  • Ensure compliance by all members of the KRPF with the NB Policing Standards, the NB Police Act and Regulations
  • Lead, direct, oversee and participate in the development and maintenance of all KRPF work plans, activities, projects and programs
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget, maintain cost control, forecast the need for additional funds that may be required, monitor and approve expenditures and implement midyear adjustments as may be required
  • Perform related duties as may be directed by the Civic Authority
  • Initiate internal investigations when appropriate and provide corrective actions as required and provided for under the NB Police Act
  • Coordinate law enforcement activities with those of other departments, agencies and organizations; cooperate with other Municipal as well as Provincial and/or Federal agencies and officers in appropriate policing matters where activities of the KRPF officers are involved

Qualified and interested persons are requested to submit:

  • A curriculum vitae outlining relevant qualifications, experience, and employment history
  • A Statement of Leadership Experience written by the candidate (not more than 2 pages) describing up to three specific leadership experiences or events that best demonstrates the candidate’s readiness to assume the position of Chief of Police
